Looks great. Can't tell from the pics but do you have any places for them to perch?

Not yet but in the works for sure. I plan to build some roosts inside of the coop with "droppings board" underneath to catch all the poop.

Made a thread recently about making a crawfish paddle. Ended up planing an old cypress piece down and shaping out with a jigsaw and wood file before a little sanding. I'm happy with the way it came out. Left one side with the old square head nail holes for a little character.

Nice, but what is the plan for keeping them warm in winter and protection from driving rain?

The plan is walls? Lol

Here are updated pictures, still not done with this thing. Have a bunch of trim work left on the outside, doors on all the windows, and few more things I need to add inside the coop itself but the rain shut me down yesterday. We went ahead and moved the birds in any way.

I screwed these 1x2s temporarily thinking it would help them get up to the roost. Little did I know they could jump/fly straight up there lol

I'm no pro either, I have a full time job but I take on commissions to help fund my hobby. And being that i usually hate what people want me to build, I figured it made sense to make them as easy and quick as possible.

That festool stuff is so nice but yeah so pricey.

How did you join the side rails and the inset birch plywood? Pocket hole screws?

It's expensive but I think it will pay for itself with the time saved. And not having to hide pocket holes really ups the quality of my work. The profit off of this coffee table and my next commission I've already been paid for paid for the domino. Unfortunately I didn't have it when I started this piece so I built the box using dados, then edge jointed the legs on 45s to give it the look of one piece legs, then started trimming out the box with the maple. With the domino I could have just cut dados or rabbets in the frame and dropped the ply in. [/img]

The legs are glued and screwed to the box from the inside but the horizontal rails are just glued on so I wouldnt have to fill screw holes on the inside.

So, my latest dining table build has not gone so well.

I put the top together using 5 2x8's that i planed down to about 1 1/8". It was a 7ft long section, and i used 6-7 biscuits per join, along with 5 pocket screws each. Glued it up (with some cheap Elmers wood glue from Family dollar because i ran out of the good stuff). Then clamped it together...and all was good.

After adding two coats of stain, it started separating pretty bad, but only in certain sections. Ended up with cracks about 1/8" wide on 3 of the 4 joints.

Could this be because of the stain? or possibly the cold snap we had last week?

I took the whole thing apart and and going to take them to my FIL's to use his jointer to flatten the edges.

The whole process sucked.
