On 2 different occasions recently I found ammo in stock online only to travel to the store and be told 'we never received any' or 'it just sold out.' Ammo was showing in stock for some time later until finally being OOS. Somebody at the store is hiding ammo.

Can't really fight the insiders. Does Academy have an app?

They have it in the front of the store on Vets. People have been waiting in line at 6 a.m. to grab it when they open.

I had the same experience on Sunday. I was told by a auto department employee that they had it in back and that they were not going to stock it until late that night.

Employees are buying it and reselling it at pawn shops.

That or they're flipping it on message boards. I imagine they're friends and family have aheads up on ammo shipments.

If I were y'all I'd send some info about this to the corporate office. Can't hurt and is easy enough to do.
Might get a free box of ammo.

Did it sat morning. Had to go get 9v battery at 430 am cause smoke alarm wouldn't shut off and they are daisy chained. Decided to stroll by the ammo counter. Several cases behind and under counter. When I found z person they told Me there was none. When I asked her to look in boxes they told Me they couldnt because the sports counter person wasn't there and they couldn't open anything....you could see ammo in the freaking boxes that had the lid already opened

I'm not sure the employees that I have been dealing really understand how to use a computer machine.

My hunch is the have 'regulars' who give them extra cash to hold it back for them, or they sell it to pawnshops.

I went to Cabelas to find some 308 rounds on a random day. The dude said "we just got a truck in but it's all gone." I asked if I could get on a waiting list and he said no. I think the employees keep the shite for their buddy's and the good ole boyz

I was out of town today on business in Alexandria and watched quite a display go down. I arrived at 645 after seeing several bulk .223 and .22 packages in limited stock in the store. The clerk tells me there is no ammo that came in. I tell her the app shows it in stock and please check. A guy comes up behind me and asks the same question only to have the female employee tell him "not to go there". He asks for a manager and she says she is one. He then asks for another manager. The sporting goods worker became irate and walked off basically screaming at the guy. After the other manager came over he looked in the back and claimed it was not in the store. I know they got ammo in stock the night before because when I called yesterday evening they said a small list showed up with the truck to be put out at 7 AM per this locations procedure. I've had similar encounters at several Wal-Marts with only one or two times actually scoring the desired product showing in stock. It really reminds me why this is the first time I've shopped at Wal Mart in probably 8-10 years. I suspect that they have some personal friends who are flipping the ammo and are getting first dibs at everything that comes in.

Which Wal-Mart? The one on Nelson has been putting it out when they get it. At least I know I picked up 9mm WWB there on 2 separate occasions. The one on HWY 14 is shady as frick though. They have a creepy, balding Norman Bates looking guy who works in sporting goods. I always check the ammo counter when I stop for other shite and they haven't had any for 3 months. Always tells me no and they haven't gotten any in forever, but with a knowing, shite-eating grin on his face. fricking prick.

Workers save it for their buddies.
Buddies sell it for them at markup.
Split the cash.
Profit.
