Except with a 70 Yamaha four stroke. What should I get out of it....40 to 45mph?

I am going to guess 40 will be max. Probably closer to 35 after gear and people are in it.

Why a gator tail. Who would want to hear one all day. Hell I love them, we have four....but damn if I want one on my fishing boat, unless I absolutely had to have it.

Don't go there unless you want extra weight on board when it gets wet. Try this. I had used it and love it for nonslip and is very easy to install. Many colors to go with and soft on the feet. Cost under $200 and cleans up easy and holds out real good in the sun.

Sweet rig. I've been looking at almost the exact setup. I'll probably keep my current one a few more years though. You can probably hit 40-42 when you're by yourself. 35-38 with another fisher.

I have a 17 foot basstracker, fully rigged, with a 50 merc and I top out at 31. I'm guessing 40 or better, easy

I fish many tourneys and do very well. Many of the guys tell me it takes them more money than I use all day just to start their engines. I laugh all the way to the pumps. 30 on the water is fast enough for me for so many reasons.

Plus, gas is supposed to hit 5 bucks by summer. Although the last gas crunch didn't seem to take any of the anglers off the water, skiers, ect., yeah, but not the anglers.
