Interesting article, thanks. Like one of the captioned pictures shows, my CW9 won't have that issue as it doesn't have the capped guide rod.

I read that article too.

I have never been able replicate that issue in my personal CM9 or any other CM9s that I have held at gun stores.

It's definitely something to look for in selecting a specific CM9, but I think the problem is a bit overblown in his article.

OB'ers gonna OB.

Just trying to help out a fellow poster. No shame in that.

PS, you're approaching 10k. Better have a sweet thread ready.

The article also states his was an early production model so maybe they've fixed it.

I had the non-locking issue with all of my 8 rd mags. I pulled the base plate off, took a piece of sandpaper and layed it flat on the table. I then went back and forth over the sandpaper with the top lips of the mags. I took off probably a 1/16 then polished it and reattached.

Lock tight now.

That's what I'm thinking too. Anyone who I've seen purchase one has had very positive experiences with them.

Damn. That's some good at-home gunsmithing.

1+

Go shoot that new gun and enjoy it! I bet everything will be just fine.

Although I don't have a CW9 (yet....), I do have a CW45. A nice thing about the CW45 is that one can successfully run lots of 1911 45 ACP mags in the CW45. Mine won't run the Wilson 10 rnd mag or Chip McCormick 8 rnd Shooting Stars, but runs just about everything else. I don't use the 1911 mags for cc w/ the Kahr, but it comes in handy at the range.

Lots of good Kahr info here: LINK

If it doesn't work loose after a while, this is a minor mod that I'd actually be willing to try. thanks

I assume you haven't had any problems with retaining the bullets in the mag after doing this, right? That top edge curves over the follower a little bit so I guess you just have to make sure you don't take off too much.

You don't touch the mag top.
You take the plastic base off.
I had 2 issues on mine.
First, there were some Kahrs sold that had bad mag lock releases so I wrote them and got a replacement. The 2nd to last round would make the mag drop and this fixed it.

The second was the 8 rd mags would not latch and the reason was the plastic base was just a bit too tall. Sanding off a little of it was all it needed and since then I haven't had any issues.

I can take some pics when I get home.

Just out of curiosity, what made you go for the CW9 as opposed to the CM9?
