Regardless of zero turn or riding, what's the mower with the best cut? Need a new newer for 1 acre with slopes. Not sure if I want zero turn or riding mower. I'm interested to see opinions on what produces the best cut.

I have 1 acre and went with a riding mower. John Deere X300 series. Love the mower deck and how easy it is to adjust. I cut at 1.25" with a 42" deck. Love it. Zero turns on smaller yards I don't like. Tires are too abusive for the amount of turning needed on smaller yard with landscaping, trees, playground sets, etc...

just one acre, I'd either do a zero turn or walk behind with a sulky.

48" at minimum, but 60" if you can fit it

Not directed to me, but my response should clarify I have house on a 1 acre lost so don't actually cut an acre of grass.

Cutting 1 acre, it might be hair over an acre. I had a riding Husqvarna, but it died. I have bermuda so I want something a nice cut.

I have 1.3 acres and used a 44" X mark ZTR for 10 years. I took 1:15 to mow.

This year I replaced with a 54" Kubota ZTR, it now takes 45 minutes to mow. Besides being larger it is much faster. I was told by a lawn service owner the 54" give a better cut than a 60" mower.

I liked both, the only reason I switched is the X mark dealer stopped selling mowers.

After using a ZTR for all these years I would not go back to a tractor style mower.

Torro timecutter 4225. cuts straight and got some pep. Best thing is it has 3 modes that limits the speed of the mower. Put it in the low mode and it helps around the house and other objects much easier to control. Also helps to limit the mower from peeling out and making ruts like it does when full throttle. Then when you got that done put it in high and roll.

Always been Cub Cadet.
They always been know for the best quality of cut.
Hint look at the deck discharge.
Square field cut
Rounded more or slope similar to scag or cubbcadet zero turns more for quality of cut.

Do yourself a favor and buy a used Dixie Chopper off of Craigslist. Easily the best zero turn on the marker if you factor in ease of maintenance. Spend about $2500 and never have to buy another mower.

How much slope. Residential zero turns really aren't that great on slopes.

I have been using one on my yard for several years and have only had the blades ground once. The hours a golf course will put on one in a week is about what I would do in a year. You have to take care of your grass though. It does not like weeds.

If only I could train my Boykin to go past the Bermuda before he pisses. That is what those brown circles are.

And keep it cut. What do you do if your grass gets tall?
