Motorguide tour series trolling motors

Bought my '05 Triton with trolling motor on it. Used it twice and it started bugging out. Brought it to the shop and figured out it had gotten water in the module. $500 later it's fixed. What are the odds of the seal breaking again? Anyone ever had this problem? I read on the internet that it's pretty common.

Next time just buy a new one. $500 is a lot to drop into a nearly 10 year old TM. Oh and when you do get a new one, get a Minn Kota
