Motorboat vs Kayaker in GI

If this guy is not trolling, he's a piece of work. Supposedly a kayak fisherman spooked this guy's pond he was fishing in. So, he takes matters into his own hands.

Needless to say that was the last fish I caught and I was pretty upset. He had the entire works, flag for his boat, livewell, fish basket, two mini yeti coolers, all of which i tried to sink in the water as I did about 3 or 4 donuts around him before I left. The barrage of waves approaching his vessel had him scrambling for support as he yelled obscenities my way, I couldn't hear him over the motor in open throttle but am I in the wrong here?

Dick move. That guy probably busted his arse to paddle out there before anyone else arrived

Seems like a pretty obvious troll job, then again maybe he is that stupid.

I would bet money none of that happened
Just some pathetic nerd like that bossier guy on here

Kayak and spook does not compute. One of the reason I love yak fishing is that fish will swim right under you like you're a piece of debris.

This is what I was thinking. I have floated right over fish that I was so close to I felt like I could grab them with my hands. Maybe the guy in the boat just assumed the fishing was messed up because a yak cam through.

I wouldn't intentionally fuq with him.
But if i was being courteous and he started that shite, I'd capsize him.

Walter Mitty-esque fantasy. i bet he did see a kayaker though. those ponds aren't deep enough for a motorboat to do doughnuts in.

Question for the yak fishermen:
We fish in an 18ft bay boat around Hopedale mostly. It's a regular occurrence for us to round a bend of the bayou on plane at about 35 mph to see a kayaker fishing just ahead. On some occasions I suddenly slow down with intent to idle past but the process of slowing down suddenly creates a huge wave. On other occasions I say Fk-it and remain on plane, which seems to create less wake for ya'll, just a light chop.
From your perspective, what is the preferred way for people in outboard-equipped boats to handle that situation?

If you can't slow down early enough, stay on plane. If someone is fishing a busy waterway, they get what they deserve.

I'm a yak fisherman and I prefer you stay on plane. I get that people are trying to be courteous but I don't expect them to especially in a main channel and it creates a bigger wake.

Stay on plane, I know several yak guys bitch but I look at boat wakes as part of the game. Id prefer boats stay on plane than halfass get off or even slow to idle.

Yep, stay on a plane if you don't have time to properly slow down. I primarily fish from a yak and the one thing that used to piss me off when I had my boat was yakers continuing to paddle the same direction as me when I would slow down to an idle trying to pass them. Every time a boat approaches me I will stop paddling (peddling in my case) and let them pass. I ended up gunning it in my boat when the yaker would stop or slow down enough to let me pass.

Yep, a lot of boat owners don't really know WTF they're doing behind the wheel. They either slow down way too late, and then slow down just enough the throw a big arse wake. I'd love to just walk up to some of them a take the boat and say you're too stupid to own a boat.
