Guess you would need to build a large cricket corral to keep them in one spot?
Nope those farm raised crickets don't move to far from where they are scattered.....

much like the practice of sinking sacks of cut sweet potatoes for improving a duck hole -

funny I saw some one cleaning a turkey at sherburne a few years back it had a bucnh of those non native crickets in his gullet... The farm raised ones look different...

but unlike corn they can't be seen from a drone -

like getting caught with "sweet potato water" someone had to turn him in.

I hear they last about 4-5 days and the turkeys will come back looking for them after that

All this speculation about whether or not someone turned him in or ratted him out just need to read the article where the warden specifically says they received an anonymous tip. It wasn't speculation. The warden approached the landowner who denied releasing crickets but didn't know it was illegal even if he had. Might get a ticket after investigation is complete. The commissioner who was a guest hunting the property did not know it had been baited, but gets a ticket anyway.

That's not what the article says.

The landowner denied releasing crickets, but did say he didn't know that would have been illegal if he had.

You are correct, it is a poorly written article and I read it poorly. I will edit my post.

You should delete the whole thing. What’s wrong with speculation? And yes from the article it sounds like he very well could have been set up

I read that just as clear as you did, the speculation is on who, and why did they turn him in, because it's so bizarre.

Fortunately, there's been a few posters give some background information on the deal, and it looks like operation bream bed was a smashing success.
