I'll be honest...at the end of the day, it's just a boat. They are works of art, but boats nonetheless. I'd never own one even if I could afford one. You have the right idea...be a friend.

Saw Emeril's boat come into OB Marina Memorial Day weekend....70 viking EC. Probably $6.5M new.

It's still a boat though which means money, frustration and complications.

From what I gather that $10k-$15k per foot is probably close. I know 6-7 years back the norm to employee a captain was roughly $1,200-$1,500 per foot alone.

Yea they have the same problems as any other boat, compounded 10 fold due to the amount of shite on them, and it all costs wayyyyyyyyyyy more to fix.

The problems are just compounded. Say you need to buy a new 300 HP outboard...that'll run you around $30k (but you may be able to offset by selling your old motor).

Most of these sportfishers have two diesels. The 1,000 hour service for each is normally $25k or more.

To rebuild, you are looking at $125k each, or more.

Blows my mind how many guys I see swinging engines rather than rebuilding them in a 1500hp sportfisher.

They'll drop brand new engines and gears into a boat that hasn't had a single overhaul yet to gain an extra 8 knots just because they can

I just ran a boat for a client from South America to Lauderdale. He traded it in for a 2016 74' Pershing. I then drove that one back to South America. The bill was north of $175k and the older boat ran like a top, while the new Pershing had more problems than I've ever seen. What could break, broke. He's not a happy camper, lol.

Burst Factor has a 68" sword on deck.

A 37' Freeman called Pay Dirt was bringing in a potential state record sword yesterday...haven't heard what it weighed.

Breathe Easy is a pretty boat...68' Viking I believe.

Haven't heard about Pay Dirt catching yet. I would imagine only the CC's will come to the scales today.

Bunch of sword gurus out there this weekend. Nick Stanczyk being one of them. Everyone I know there on Freemans are all targeting swords.

No matter how big and expensive it is, it's still a boat.

Pay Dirt had one in the bag. Confirmed. Fish on deck looked bigger than 75lbs.
