Is this that really shallow lake near Chicot state park? How do you fish this, I've been wanting to check it out.

Yep, whole lake is no deeper than about 5 foot. Me and my buddy had a good couple of days out there back in March. Swimbaits around the trees and lillies and punching grass with 1.5 oz weight and black and blue beaver baits.

We used to wear out the fish with buzzbaits on the pads.

Yea, I've read articles on the sportsman about incredible sac a lait fishin in there and that they catch more on cloudy days b/c of how shallow it is. The cloud cover makes it harder for the fish to see you and the boat. In fact it said, unless it's cloudy, don't even bother launching.

I think there are 2 launches there? North and south?

I don't know much about it, but this guy is a tree specialist, and I think he does fine in the sun.

That's because the water is crystal clear

Yeah there are two launches, a north and a south. The north launch launches into a canal and then you run to the lake. The south one you just launch straight into the lake.

It is usually better on cloudy days, because the water pretty clear. It's a real tannic clear, though, it's pretty dark. But I've caught em good on sunny days, too. Especially punching.

It can be a rough lake to fish if the wind is blowing pretty good.

It's a good thing. We were talking about frogs on Facebook the other day.
