Our generation doesnt value our freedom enough to go fight and die in a war.
Very similar to the citizens of paris during ww2. Entitled, never worked for anything, and feel like they have nothing to lose since they have no sense of pride for something they worked to gain

That has to be erie as hell. Looks like one of those old battle fields that were snowed over during thr Nazi Push during the winter. Id be scared as hell digging up a crate of mortars or grenades, that stuff is not inert all the time. Seeing all those old walthers, p-40's and 91-30's just kinda sad thinking about the men behind those weapons, the conditions they endured all because of one a-hole with a Napoleon complex.

I love old stuff like this.

There was a thread in the OT a while back about a bunch of brand new planes that were buried on an island and left there as World War II was wrapping up. They removed the wings , covered them in grease /oil and buried them all together. I think they were brand new too.

Someone recently found all of them and dug them up. Very interesting read.

Found the story

No joke i am sure some of those grenades and mortars can still go boom if handled wrong. But those MP 40's and that MG 34 was bad arse and could probably be cleaned up with some work. Those buttons and buckles were really cool. Gotta admit the Nazis were the best dressed soldiers of WWII. Really intimidating.

It's hard to comprehend the battles that took place on the eastern front. Russia had nearly 15,000,000 military deaths and 20,000,000 civilian deaths. Thats 35,000,000 deaths from a single country. By comparison the US had 500,000 casualties. The Eastern front would have that many men dead in a few hours of battle.

For anyone interested in this I would recommend the dan carlin podcast on the eastern front.

My video would not end well. Like all the youtube "Insurgent Blows Himself Up" videos.

Just imagine the misery? Those pictures are taken and those digs are done during the summer. It STILL looks cold and miserable. And they are just treasure hunting. Imagine dead of winter there and being shot at?

Had Hitler not been so bold and frick with Russia it is very possible that we would not have won that war.

Yep.. Part of the reason invading Russia was one of the biggest mistakes Hitler made IMO.

ETA: And what bayoudude just said

I agree with this, plus what Swagga said.

It's been told that Hitler's cockiness in wanting to invade two different areas at once is what did it. It's amazing to think about how massive his army must've been to manage invading two separate areas at once. But those Russian winters can be brutal I suppose.

It wasnt his boldness it was his arrogance and all the drugs propping him up. Hitler thought he was a better general than Napoleon, and sent his soldiers into Russia with little or no cold weather gear. As seriously unprepared as the Russians were he might have actually won if not for the Russians all or nothing scortched earth policy, and the hard winter.
