Does anybody know where I could find some 60 carbs for a Mercury 40 2 stroke 3 cylinder? It'll be pushing an 18-42 with a tunnel. I don't really want to do a ton of stuff to the motor but just upgrade the carbs being that the head is a 60 hp but bottlenecked with 40 carbs. Thanks in advance

Get in touch with Danny Thibodeaux in Moss Bluff. Let him put the magic to you.

If ya can't get Danny, talk to Daryl at a Jerry's marine, also in sulphur.

I've had him work on three different motors, always did what was needed at a fair price. No head work was required. All of this was at least 6-8 years ago though. Hate to hear that about him, would have never thought that.

Don't know Danny. Just know of him. Hate to hear about the bad experience. I have known Daryl and done business with him on those 40 mercury parts for several years and haven't had any problems.

My dad has one of those Merc 40s on his marsh rig. What kind of $$$ would he be looking at spending to do the 60hp carbs set up right? And is an exhaust port job required to really benefit the carb upgrade? Lastly, I assume fuel mileage drops significantly with the larger carbs...

I know brand new carbs from Jerrys will cost $600, the fuel mileage Definately suffers big time though. I'm not really positive about the porting

Daryl sells carbs and a modified intake, those parts alone make a huge difference in power. The cylinders are so big for a 40 and the way the port map lays out the motor has no issues handling the extra air and fuel, only a timing adjustment is needed.

I talked to Kent Foreman earlier and he walked me thru what I'd need to do. Have you heard of Richard Foreman? I've heard of him and I'm guessing they're related?
