After 5 seasons, I think it's about time I change out my strings. My local authorized dealer charges $120 for the string and installation. Is that a fair price? Anyone know of a good online source for strings for comparison?

Sounds about right. I got mine restrung for 100 bucks last week. You get what you pay for. Don't cheap out on this.

Just replaced the strings on my z7 extreme last month. Costs for strings and install ran around $110. Just make sure to ask the dealer what brand they plan to install. Winners choice brand strings are some of the best so that's a good comparison. Like Solo Cam said, don't take the cheaper route on this.

Make sure they are getting the strings from Mathews. Mathews quality has been great lately. I have had two new bows within a year, the HTR and the Halon, and the string stretch is non-existent straight from the factory. If you install yourself, you could always get a set from the custom guys that post on Archerytalk.

I really need to do this. However old the LX is, that's how old my string and cable are.
