Long story short, I accidentally burnt my shop down and it was a total loss.

Today I found out how much I'll be receiving back from the insurance and started looking at the Derksen Portable Buildings. They're nice but a little expensive for what they are. What kind of markup do theses things have? I'd like to know what kind of negotiating room I have to work with. TIA

My photo app is sucking and I can't upload my photos but, I had an old shop that was in the corner of the yard and in very bad shape. I had planned on tearing it down next summer and replacing it. There's about a 2 ft space between the wooden privacy fence and the back of the shop. That's where I always dump my ashes from the BBQ pit and the burn pit.

Well, Friday night came and I lit a fire and the SO and I had a few glasses of wine by the fire and went to bed. The next day around 2:00, I dumped the ashes out in the same spot where I always do. I saw no smoke or embers. We leave to go to the store to buy another burn pit because she had family coming over for dinner. At about 4:00 while in the store the SO got a call from the neighbor that the house was on fire. We rush home to find the shop was burnt to hell. No damage to the house.

If they're furnishing and erecting, I'd say the mark-up is 25 to 35%.

I'm looking at a 10'x16' Derksen. Not a pole barn.

It's the kind they haul on a trailer and put in the yard.

Bingo! Not exactly how I wanted it to happen, but I'll take it.

You have any building experience?

I framed my 12x20 out in a weekend and mine is built much better than those side of the road buildings.
