Lowrance HDS 5 or Elite 7 HDI

Looking to upgrade my gps/ finder, found a couple used ones (the HDS is NIB) in great condition for around $450. Have a Mark 4 on the front so not going to be interlinking at the moment. I like the idea of the bigger unit, but the HDS has more potential to upgrade, LSS, sat radio, and the potential to interlink should I upgrade later. What would the OB do?
Mostly fresh water fishing FWIW.
ETA: both guys are on the hook, wanting to unload these units, elite 7 just dropped to 400.
ETAA: HDS dropped to 434

I have the 7 and like it, but at times when I split the screen i find the screens small, I would think the 5 would be even worse.

I have a 5" unit now, Eagle something or another, GPS isnt working. I rarely split, GPS when running, sonar when I get to a certain spot to scout/ fish.

i have the HDS 7 and have gotten used to it but i don't find it particularly intuitive to operate. i'm not sure any of them are great though..

I wouldn't go below a 7. I had a humminbird 798 on my last boat and loved it but like what has been mentioned, split screens are very small and hard to see detail.

if at console go with the 5 and get the SS. if on bow go with 7. just bought the 7 with DI, works well (just haven't quite figured it out yet)

I think Im going to go with the 7, more screen size. Going at the console, thinking I'll put it on a big RAM mount and turn it around to face the bow with DI when fishing.
The HDS systems are great, but they have a lot of features that I wont use on this boat.
