Lowrance ordered a MSRP price drop on the Gen II Touch models today. I just ordered a Lowrance HDS9 GEN2 Insight Touch w/o transducer --$859.00 SKU 45382.

My 7 just got sent back for warranty repair..... no problems with my 9 yet.

What was wrong with it? Mine has been good to me for a year and a half now. Hope this unit does the same. FWIW there is also an software 5.0 update available for the units too. Word is a definite improvement on side scan but didn't see the same improvement for 2D or DI, not sure that the update was for the DI or 2D. People are pleased with the results and the new look. I am updating mine this weekend.

The power button stopped working. New in October. Touch screen worked fine. Found a thread about it on bbc seems like it's something that has happened on occasion. I'm just read to get it back. I feel naked without a bow unit.

I bet so, I would have suggested a soft or hard reset but with no power button it wouldn't work. I hope they take care of you and send you a new unit.

Not a bad price I got a 7 back in October or so for 750 with a transducer. Gonna add the structure scan soon.

I don't see them dropping any lower for new models. SS is the way to go. Worth every penny IMO.

The LSS2 will probably be too big. The LSS1, which will work, is smaller but I went with the HDI transducer. It is much more compact, fits under the TM nicely, and gives you 2D and downscan in one transducer. I didn't feel like SS was necessary on the bow for my style of fishing. It is around $120 and you can get a mount for the TM for around $20 so you may want to look into that.

Yes, that is it. You can google the mount and find it too. From the plastic tray, around $20 to the more expensive metal Sheild and Saver TS-HDI-2 around $100.

I had SS on my trolling motor and had a ton of interference on my hummingbird units. Even took it back to bass cat for them to try to fix it, but even that didn't help. Regular sonar worked fine, but SS sucked. May be different with Lowrance.

Hds7 gen 2 is 699 at Cabelas without Structure scan.
Eta: they also have the new elite 7 ti with total scan for 799. Looks pretty bad arse.

i paid 900 at cabelas for my touch 7 w/ SS and got 100 dollars cabelas bucks back and bought a lews reel. pretty good deal considering how much things were when they came out.
