Anyone know the deal with these? Winchester is pretty much non existent. Do they not make many rifles compared to other companies?

Im looking to buy a Winchester M70 as well. Per a dealer in the Dallas area, I was told that they would have to place an order with Winchester and I could expect to wait 12-18 months.

Yeah. I suppose I need to talk to a dealer. Even if I have to wait at least maybe I can get what I want near MSRP.

Try to find a pre64 model 70 in .308. they are usually plentiful online but may cost a bit more.

Their shotguns are everywhere, I've noticed they have been getting more in the "waterfowl" specific shotgun game. I mean they always were, but in the big semi auto Camo gun race.

Well, yea for a brand new in box never sold pre 64 you're gonna pay an assload. Find a lightly used one.

I dont get the infatuation with some guns like that, NIB pythons etc that fetch absurd prices. Its a regular gun, and you can get a brand new one exactly like it.

I guess I'm just too poor to understand how somebody could spend pay my truck off money on an old arse rifle, even if it is still in the box.

I see it the same as the love of vintage cars. They were built different, not necessarily better, but different.

You can generally find a non super grade non featherweight for 1000 to 1500 in good condition. That one seems overpriced to me. I bought a super grade featherweight 270 on there last year for 2500.00

If you could settle for a lightly used 30-06 Winchester Model 70, I can point you to one on the 'net (I'm not the seller).

I can KINDA get it for cars. They don't make them anymore. In this case, they make the exact same gun.

Itd be like paying a shitload for an old arse 67 camero when you can buy a brand new identical one for 1/10th the price.

Right. I would be ecstatic to a super grade walnut 2021 or 2022. None to be had though.

Damn! I've got a pre-64 M70 30-06 I'd let go for $10,000.00. I'll even include several boxes of ammo...

I bought M70 308 new for use two seasons ago to retire my Remington M700 30-06. I’m really pleased with it. I got the super grade and it is a really good fit for me. Additionally, the round is as effective for deer in East Alabama without the recoil. One of my hunting buddies always calls my M700 “the Thunder Stick.”

Im really pleased with the M70 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a traditional deer rifle, especially in the 308.

FYI - I didn’t pay $20,000 for it. LOL!
