Getting new tires soon. Currently have 275/55/20s on my 2016 F-150 (4x4)… I wanted to go up one size and get some all terrains but was unsure as to what size to go with.. I’m putting a 1.5” level kit on the front so I wanted to go with something just a tad bit bigger. A buddy of mine recommended 34.5” tires because that’s what he has and loves it, but I’ve never done this before so any input or advice from this board would be appreciated

Should be able to go 35” but 33” and 34” gives you better acceleration and gas mileage. 35” gives best ground clearance. You might be able to make up for the performance loss with a custom tune. If it’s an ecoboost with custom tune it’ll be faster than stock even with the 35”s.

Everyone I know gets Ridge Grapplers but you’ll find lots of diverse opinions here.

My tundra is stock and it easily fits 275/60 r20 (33")

if you're leveling it you should be able to get 35" on it. 285/65 r20

And that’s why I’m here

I’m honestly not too worried about ground clearance or performance or anything like that. I just want my truck to sit level and to look a tad more ‘aggressive’ than it does now with the pavement princess tires I have on it

It’s the 5.0 V8 fwiw

If you haven’t already purchased a level, go ahead and do a 2 inch. Are you getting new wheels? Several factors here to what tires will fit with no rubbing. The 275/55/20s are 31.9/11/20. A 275/60/20 will be 32.9/11/20. I would recommend Nitto Ridge Grappler 275/60/20 xl load range.

33”, or maybe 34” if you don’t care about going slower and worse mileage. Ridge grapplers. If you want a stock-ish ride get the P rated tires. If you want them to last a lot longer but don’t mind a little rougher ride get the LT rated version.

Plan on keeping the factory 20” rims I have. Also planned on going 1.5 inches instead of 2, but I’m not dead set on either one so if you have an argument for 2 inch instead of 1 1/2, I’m all ears

I spent a lot of time researching the same thing. I also did the 1.5" level kit. After looking at several other F-150's decided on 275/65/20, which ended up being 34.5".

I was looking for BF Goodrich T/A's but had a hard time finding them (about 8 months ago). Found Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek and have loved them.

Picture is before level kit and then with kit and tires. With the 34.5" I do get occasional rubbing on a hard turn. Would think anything larger would rub more.

If I was doing it again, I would go with the 2" level kit. Hope this helps.

I've got your exact same truck with the same level, I have 275/65/r20, which comes out to just under 35" tire diameter. Perfect size for the setup in my opinion. I've got the BFGs on mine.

ETA: for the level/lift, go with swapping out for the Bilstein adjustable shocks, way better than just adding the spacer on top.

295/60/20 which is right around 34" will be perfect with the level. Could go up to 295/65/20 which is about 35.3" but they are pretty large

OP, I put a 1.5” level on my 2018 F150 and kept the stock 20” rims and fit 295 Toyo MT’s on it and had zero rubbing issues.

remove that BS little plastic wind shield under the front bumper

Makes a drastic difference in look when you level it

Thanks. I love it. Can be a bear to park sometimes, but all in all I'd go for it again. It was hard to find one.

May have to try removing the plastic guard as you suggest, that's a good idea.
