I picked up a 13 fishing concept a baitcaster earlier in the week and now i want to add one more spinning reel to my arsenal. The spinning reel will be used for pop'n corks down south. Right now I have 2 Penn Pursuits that have held up fine, i also have 1 shimano sedano. Looking to stay under $100. Whats the OB fishing with these days?

Under 100...Shimano Sahara or Penn battle II

Pflueger President for less than $100 is a good reel. Very smooth.

Sahara. Shimano has the best drag on the market. Extra money should be put in the rod. That's your true fighting tool.

For under 100 I think the shimano stuff really falls off and the penn battle II is where it's at

I have a little Shimano Sienna 2500 that I love. Smooth as can be, my favorite reel. It's one of the smaller Siennas, but they are all great.
Think they run about $40. Bought it and put it on a medium action Berkley Cherrywood. The whole rig was under $100.

Anyone used the 13 fishing spinning reels?

No. I wanted to but the reviews on tackle warehouse steered me away. Love their spinning rods

There is a thread in this on this page or page two. Anyhow. Consensus is shimano Stradic is the reel to get. Hands down Can be found on eBay for around $160.
I was looking at the new shimano sahara. Upgraded version from last year for the same price as last years. Felt good and very smooth. A step above a Sedona and about 20 bucks more. eBay has them about 80 bucks. Lighter than a Penn battle 2 which some say has line lay issues.
But then I read that the Sedona sahara and nasci should just be on the same price range of 60 bucks because they don't last long. Reports that under a load the reel gets hard to reel is another complaint. I'm sure these are just here and there but none the less, these are reports I see
Then I came across the new Diawa BG. Haven't read anything negative yet. Some say it is a $150 class reel that is retail at 99. eBay $80.
I think I will go with the new Diawa BG 3000. I felt one today at my local tackle shop and it felt great. Has more berrings, larger gear and a really great feel over the Sahara.

The newer Daiwa stuff is so smooth. I have a Revros and Legalis, and love both of them. Way under $100.

Sienna is probably the best low budget reel around. That om a Cherrywood is tGOAT truck rod.
Under $100 for the reel, I'd go Battle 3000.

Wow, what a mismatch. Cherrywood is terrible.

It's a truck rod. That combo can be had for 30 bucks

A heads up for you Sienna fans. I own 3 of these fine reels. Went to pick up a fourth and noticed a few changes. Turns out for 2017 they not only changed the look, BUT also reduced the number of bearings from 4 to 2!
Fortunately, the updated Sycopath is identical to the old Sienna. It has 4 bearings. And the price is the same.
I know it makes no sense.

Put together a couple of ultralight setups for the kayak using Sienna 1000s on Fenwick rods. They are a work horse, smooth, and rod n reel together are about 60-70
