Deer season is coming and i hope to skin a few. I'm a big fan of Puma, Grohmann and the high end Buck knives for skinners.

Anyone ever tried the Dexter Russell lamb skinner?

I might get one because their filet knives are awesome and it would be nice to have something you don't have to take care of.

Anything dexter sani-safe is incredible.

I do 100% of it with my pocket knife typically though

The best skinning knife I've ever used is the Havalon Piranta.

I tried one of these on a pig right when they came out and it did great on the skinning. I did not find that it cut flesh very well. It's an awesome knife but I don't like having to use 2 different knives at the rack.

I use the Gerber version of this style. It's been great and the only knife that I used last season.

I have the Outdoor Edge swing blade / replacement blades. Works great although I think the Havalon might last a little longer.

There is an OBer in Crystal Springs, MS who makes them on the side and does beautiful work. This year I traded him a pile of shed horns from our farm and he has been making me stuff in trade.

He is Bpinson on here. And his Facebook page is Pinson Antler Works. I love his stuff, and a really nice guy.

Not the best picture, but that is my fault, not his.

I've been using an Outdoor Edge Swingblade the past few seasons. Granted the past few seasons have sucked for me, but the knife is fantastic. One thing I really, really like is how easy it is to run the gutting vlade without actually getting into the body cavity.

Dozier knives have to be mentioned if we are really having a serious conversation on quality knives. I have the Pro Skinner and it is for sure a great quality knife.

Mike Sanders. Before passing last year made some custom built awesome Knives. You can find them still on the net. Stay sharp forever and built to last.
