Let's talk fishing line for bass

I'm old school I guess when it come to line. I still use mono on most of my reels. I do like braid in some situations though. I know the fluoro lines have gotten a lot better since they came out years ago. What's the OB's opinion on line for jiggin, cranking, topwater, etc? Brand and size of line will help also.

Best thing I ever did for soft plastic fishing was change to Flouro. More sensitive and less stretch. Have to keep the live treated though.

You are 100% correct. Line conditioner is your friend when using flouro

Slight hijack
What are you using on your UL spinning reels these days?

I use 12lb Mono on every setup. I have yet to ever lose fish more than my buddies that read 500 page textbooks on which line to use on which setup.....
If you like adjusting lines than go for it. I find it a huge headache and waste of time for someone like me

Then you are using shitty flouro. Good flouros have less stretch and more sensitivity. I was purely a berkley big game guy for a long time but after fishing with flouro on my soft plastic rig I will never go back. Keeping it treated I can cast it just as good as mono and have never had it break on me.
Edit- to be fair I never had big game break on me either.

Which brand do you like? I'm a fan of the seaguar flouro

Berkeley Big Game 12# green is what I use in most of my reels. 15# in a few.
Braid for frogs or spinnerbaits in heavy brush.

When fishing with no cork, I tie to a tiny swivel, then to 6lb flouro. The newish Berkley Solutions is the best mono for spinning reels I've ever used.

I use seaguar invisx. Changed to it about 3 years ago and haven't had a reason to go back since.

Went to fluoro when it became the rage. Ended up getting more bites in clear water, but breaking off a lot and it had bad memory. Too much sugar for a dime.
Went back to the way I started and now use Big Game 17 or 20 for plastics and jigs, 12 for cranking and topwater, and Power Pro 65 for frogs and Carolina rig - fluoro leader.

Fluoro for jigs, unless flipping into heavy cover. I use braid for that. Sometimes braid with a Fluoro leader, depending on clarity what type of cover (punching grass or milfoil).
Fluoro for anything diving. Cranks, deep spinnerbaits, swim baits, 10 inch worms, etc.
I definitely use Fluoro on the light set up. For senkos, shaky heads, and such.
I alternate mono and braid for top water, but I have a better hookup ratio with mono on things like frogs. With braid not having any stretch I rip too early on the hook set. Even though I prefer braid in the pads and thick grass.
I still like mono for my shallow spinner baits.
ETA:
Braid:
Power pro 65 and 20
Seaguar flippin' braid, when I can get it cheap enough.
Mono:
Big game 15 and 10
Fluoro:
Seaguar 15 for standard use, 6lb for light tackle.
Applications vary and change depending on where I'm going to be fishing.

Can't blame you one bit. While I've had good experiences with flouro I used big game for soft plastic fishing for 15 years with zero issues. Still use it on most all my other setups. Big game #20 is hard to beat for catching reds under a cork.

I tried fluoro years ago and I had nothing but snapped lines on hooksets. Are the 100% fluoro lines better with this now?
