Thinking about buying a few traps and trying to catch a couple sacks. Is this feasible or worth the effort if I just want a couple sacks every other weekend or so? Any tips or pointers?

Not worth the effort if you just want to eat them. But it's fun to do, either with pillow traps or set nets. Couple dozen set nets and a case of beer is a good day.

But then again, you could always come up empty. Then you're out time and money with nothing to show for it.

I bait my craw traps with dog shite. Make sure the dog shite isn't too fresh, so it stays together when you pick it up. Dog shite has produced my best numbers by far

Did that with a buddy and his dad many years ago. We ended up getting too drunk to drive home, and had to get his wife to come pick us up. Only caught like 1/2 sack too

This is kind of what I'm thinking. Any advice on where to buy nets/supplies or where to try and catch a few?

Set nets are sold at Academy. I'm not sure where you would buy bait around here, but melt is king. Just don't get your hopes up.

Wait until it gets hotter. You can catch a few now but mostly you'll spend a lot of effort for a few crawfish. If you wait til it gets hotter you'll get much more bang for your buck.
