A pre emergent such as free hand, amaze, preen, etc prevent a seed from germinating, they do nothing to the plants and weeds that have already sprouted, just as round up, 24d, etc kill just what they touch, so for long term control you need both, then there is the whole issue of selectively

Soon as weed seed sprouts, it is killed by pre-emergent. You never actually see said weed emerge

Thisstuff did a great job at killing grass and keeping grass from growing, for a long time. I can promise you that. It was just so damn expensive. I weedeat every time I mow so I am just going to start spraying once every 3-4 weeks for much cheaper.

You can help a spraying last longer by making sure to not sling grass clippings on it.

At least I tell myself that it helps.

Yeah, my Mom always said knowledge is power, I'm rather powerless at this point.

Try this, both 24d and a pre emergent

I'm going to use it strictly for Virginia Buttonweed. I use 24D/round-up combined to kill shite where no grass is.
Have never heard of that one. I fought buttonweed for several years and found 2,4,D alone doesn't kill it anyway. "Controls" it (burns is down) but it comes back.

I finally tried Trimec Plus, a combination of Dicamba and 2-4D. That shyt will erase it.

They say it takes a couple of weeks to see and it's not cheap, but the mixture is so small that it'll last you quite a while.

Round-up does not kill everything.

Why are you wanting to fertilize in 2 weeks, wait till after green up is complete, probably the beginning of April or later, also make sure to use a variety specific fertilizer, not just the random turf builder shite they sell at Home Depot.

Rye grass is starting to die and centipede is starting to slowly turn green. If we have another week of warm temps, itll be ready to go.

I believe I have centipede. I am not 100% sure but that's what it looks like. It was sodded when the house was built 4 years ago, I bought the house a year ago.

What fertilizer do you recommend for spring, summer, late summer, and winter prep?

I dethatched last fall and will do so again this fall. It took a beating the first time so I want to ensure it has a full year of growing before I destroy it again.

I don't know of many things it won't smoke with good coverage. It's always converted everything I sprayed to dirt.

Anybody know where I can find burning grass?

The weed....not the herb.....

The stuff that burns when you touch it

Not much of anything, centipede does not need much and can be damaged easily by too much, regardless of what Scott's tells you, only need to fertlize it once a year after green up is complete , with a high nitrogen fertilizer (first #) and no phosphate (2ed #), with little potash/potassium(3ed#), can get it any any nursery sold as centipede fertilizer, go light on it and you can repeat in mid season if you want to but don't really need to. Raise your blades on your mower and get a good 1 1/2-2 inches of grass after mowing and water once a week in the AM, if you want to get deeper take a soil sample and send to LSU (very easy and only cost $15) and see what the PH is, take results to a good nursery and they will help you get the optimum soil conditions, (my ph was high so we added sulphur)
