You are on the right track to separate weeding and feeding, weeding should be done now before the weeds become well established, feeding much later after green up is complete

The big reason you don't want the generalized stuff at Home Depot is they sell products that can be used on all lawns but not the best for any, as stated above for centipede you want no phosphate, while it is beneficial for other varieties, centipede does not absorb it and I have been told it can promote fungus

I don't know of many things it won't smoke with good coverage. It's always converted everything I sprayed to dirt.

There are some things that are resistant to it, and there are more being discovered.

Problem is, we just moved into this house. They placed the sod straight ontop of a bunch of sand that came from the lake. Its a shitty situation and I am fighting an uphill battle.

I applied 24-D today but imagine ill still have a decent amount of clover left in 2 weeks. I want to do a weed and feed in about 2-3 weeks. Then, around summer, I was planning on doing another turf builder type fertilizer but I will go to a nursery to see what they recommend.

I know that I need a soil sample done but I also know that its terrible. I am just trying to keep what I have alive and keep the weeds out.

I wonder if any plants have developed immunity to it.

Time for googling.

Do you have an example? I went to the guys at Vernon's Hardware last year for advice but they are higher than giraffe pussy.

If clover is the big problem, 24d will take care of it, wait a few weeks and spray with the bayer product on previous page , then just keep it healthy, go ahead and get a soil sample , very easy to do and get on a plan, may take a year or so, because you want to make small changes not to stress out lawn

I use old time feed n supply, it is on hwy 44 in Gonzales, Courtney is a master Gardner and very helpful, prices are not bad, and they only sell you what you need (they break down 50 lb bags of fertilizer into 5 pound zip locks)

Question, after using 24d, Why would I need to use the Bayer?

How much soil do they need and where exactly do I bring it? Ill Google this so you really dont need to answer. Also, how many different parts of the yard do I need to sample? What happens if I get a spot thats a deteriorated dog sample?

Downshift, Ive never heard of it. I live on the other side of BR in Denham but will check it out for sure.

I see that you spell it 1 word but how do you pronounce it? Fast like Tigapa? or slow and drawn out Tigaher Pawhe?

Been drinking since sprayed the 24d.

The bayer has a pre emergent in it which will help deter new weeds

Soil sample - take a 5 gallon bucket and dig about 2-3 inches deep and get a handful, of dirt, repeat process in about 10 different locations of your yard and mix all the dirt well in the bucket, only need a small ziplock bag full of the mixed sample. Take it with you to old tine and they should have some forms to fill out and I think you can leave it and a check there and the county agent comes by once a week and brings it to LSU

The main issue for farmers right now is pigweed. Some of it will die, then some of it is resistant. There's a chemical called Liberty that will hammer it, but there's only a number of varities of cotton and soybeans that are Liberty Link.
