Is it best to just build your own?
I want one with a leupold scope that can shoot anything from 250 yards away

Unless you like to work on guns or are trying to save money I would just go buy one

There is build as in sourcing every single pin and spring and assembling everything from scratch.

And there is build as in buying an upper and a lower and slapping them together. Often you can get better deals with either method than buying a complete assembled rifle. Not always but most of the time as it's usually easier to get the exact configuration you want that way.

Complete upper
Complete lower
Bolt Carrier group
Charging Handle

Stick all 4 things together and cram in a magazine with boolets in it and go shoot.

I would buy if you are not a tinkerer. Look, you really should jump on that Daniel Defense v11 pro I linked on yoyr last thread. Smokin' deal for an amazing gun. For 250 yards you dont really need a scope. A red dot is just fine.

Building a reliable 5.56 js a bit easier than building a reliable.300 blk. If going .300...buy.

Why is this?

Just curious to your opinion.

It's harder to build a reliable 300. A lot of people get feed issues. The round was designed to run short barrel suppressed. If you shoot subs out of a 16" unsupressed barrel you will most likely not reliably cycle the rounds. Running supersonic rounds through a 16" barrel will work fine. Most people run a pistol length gas system to help with the cycling issues.

My advice to you is buy one. They are not hard to build, but if you don't know exactly what you are doing you may not have a reliable gun. If you are set on building then start with building a 556. They are really hard to mess up. If you do want a 300 then I would suggest with a 8"-10.5" barrel and get a suppressor.

Ah, never heard of the reliability out of a 16". Mine is a 10" and runs perfectly.

I honestly cant tell if you are being a huge troll. Anyways, you can get a gun cerakoted afterwards. Or you can do a krylon paint job.

It's like choosing the type of vehicle you want to buy or where you want to go to college

I went with the FDE on the blackout so I don't mix my ammo and mags. All my .556 is black mags, and my 300 is FDE.

My first 300blk was a carbine length 16" AAC, and it would have failure to feed on occasion (with supers, never shot subs through it). 9" SBR runs like a champ though.

Thanks for everyone who has posted information in this thread and the other one (or two..not sure how many there are) I am looking into getting a 300 Blackout as well and this has been helpful.

Chatrabbit you mentioned a DD gun that you recommended in a previous thread. I searched through the thread and didn't see a link but perhaps I was looking at the wrong thread. Can you provide a link?

Learned something new today. Never realized that 300BLK setups don't like long barreled setups.
