Heading there for a family reunion in two weeks. We are staying at Rayburn Country and I am bringing my boat this year. 22 ft Skeeter center console and have never been in that lake. Any advise is appreciated. Do you guys know if there are open water areas for skiing and pulling tubes? Several nieces and nephews that will want to ski/ride I am sure.

It's been years since I've been to rayburn, but I think the entire lake is pretty much open. IIRC, they don't even have boat lanes.

Definitely! I will report back after. We fish Toledo bend and I was wondering is SR has the boat lanes, trees, etc to watch out for.

Thanks To all for the information

Go a good bit what part of the lake will you be on? Most of the lake is fairly open and trouble free to navigate. South end is usually where we stay. You should have no trouble with a 22 ft cc. Just be careful the lake can get rough.

No where near the headache of getting around Toledo Bend

South end is wide open.

The lake fishes a lot like Toledo Bend. Grass edges with a c-rig are money.

I have fished Rayburn quite a few times now and really love going there. Like others have said the south end(Where you are staying) is wide open for water sports. Not sure how old everyone is but if you are interested there is an island across from Twin Dikes Launch that has big parties on weekends.
I love fishing there just move off the bank and fish points with grass in 8-15' of water with whatever you like to throw and you will catch fish!

the only area that has tree sticking up as far as i know is the Black Forrest area. Its quite a few miles north of Twin Dykes on the main (left side) of the lake. The south end is wide open for jet skiing, tubing, etc.

As stated the south end of the lake by twin dykes is wide open. If you are looking for a party Rattle snake island will be the place. But it is a big arse lake so you can also avoid all of that as well. If you are going to be staying in Rayburn Country, bring your golf clubs, if you play, the course is in great shape. One of the most beautiful lakes in the south. Be looking for the bald eagles and black squirrels.

The bass have been shallow and weightless flukes have been producing nice fish.

Dont know if you a drinker but if you want any hard liquor make sure to pack your own. You only have two options to buy liquor on the south side of the lake one is the Dam Liquor Store and Sulley's both have questionable hours. While at Rayburn Country go enjoy the new clubhouse at the club, if they need a member last name email me nickyt17@gmail.com I can give you my families name. For a good burger head up to the Stump dont venture into their menu.

Catfish are being slaughtered out there now around Rayburn Park and Powell point. They are on the peninsula across from Rayburn country

Have fun and enjoy your stay!
