Hey guys,
I'll be going to Laffy this weekend and would like to shoot some w/ a friend. I'd really like a place that rents handguns to shoot. I'd like to handle a Shield. Are there any places like this in the Laffy area? If so, which one(s) do you recommend? Thanks.

Only one I know of is barnys police supply in carencro. I think they have full auto to rent too maybe. It's a indoor pistol rifle range. Only 25 yards but good for handguns.

This is the only one around. They mainly carry Shields, Glocks, Berettas to try. Other than that not alot.

Sentry Defense 337-856-7046
Range fee was kinda confusing. Something like $25/hour 1st person; $15/hour second person. Max 2 persons/lane. No rental guns yet, but should be in 1 month or so.

Thanks for the help, guys. I knew y'all would produce. Barney's carries the Shield to sell, but unfortunately they don't have it for rental. Mainly 9mm Glocks (32, 43, 17 and 22) and Beretta PX4.

You're waaay up north -- but if you happen to pass thru BR you're more than welcome to borrow my 9mm Shield.

I also have a G43 and a Kahr PM9 that you'd be welcome to try for comparison.

Thanks for all the kind offers, guys. The OB can be a very generous crowd.

Damn I did not realize they were that close to opening. I will try them out Monday or Tuesday for sure. I got a new Mark IV I need to shoot.

I called them up on Friday and the guy said you can go in and shoot now as long as you have your own ammo. He said they are just waiting to get in all there ammo and supplies before officially opening, but that it should be this coming week.

I went check out Sentry today. Very nice place! Well lit, cool and smokeless air, and clean.

I never understand the need for people to place their pistols sideways instead of pointing down range.

Uncle JackD,
Sentry looks nice.
I went to Barney's Sun PM and shot for an hour. We had a good time. I knew they didn't rent the Shield, but we were hoping to handle it. When I talked to them Fri they had it in stock. Unfortunately, they sold it Sat so we couldn't handle it. My son liked the feel of the Springfield XDS. We rented the Glock Model 43 (single stack mag) for an hour for only $11; we also had to use their ammo for the rental (#50 Blazer for $16). They only allow brass ammo to be shot at the range. My son shot the Glock well. He liked the M43 striker trigger better than my Kahr CM9 double action trigger. He didn't like the slightly bigger size (compared to the M43) of my Kahr CW45. I don't usually like the feel and point of Glocks in my hands (naturally point high), but this one handled nicely and shot well for me. Hoping he can find a Shield so he can at least handle it.
