Kid's Deer Hunting (asking for suggestions)

As you can tell by my username, I'm more of a fisherman than hunter. My job keeps me out of town approx. 220 days/year, but the other 140+, I'm completely off. It just so happens that this year, I've been working throughout all of deer season, and still am (in Ann Arbor Michigan). I won't get a deer trip this year.
My 11 yr old has friends at school that are able to deer hunt, and most of them have killed deer...or at least tell him they have. He wants to go deer hunting. When that happens, it'll be with me. But due to my job, I don't want to spend a ton of money on a lease that I will hardly be able to use. I also have a 9 yr old coming up, but he hasn't mentioned anything about hunting yet. Just likes to fish.
11 yr old mentioned it while I was home for Christmas, but doesn't understand that we can't just go to any patch of woods and hunt...I have to be invited. I tried the 'ol, "We're fishermen more than hunters", and "I didn't kill my first deer until I was 26 yrs old, son". My dad was not a deer hunter either, but always took me fishing.
Anyway, long story short, I saw mentioned in another thread about Texas cull deer, and wonder if there's anyone with experience with this kind of trip. Obviously, not something I can do this year, but maybe next season, would be something I'd be interested in. I'd be willing to spend a decent amount to put the kid on a deer of any kind, but again, just can't justify getting in a lease. I don't want to spend thousands on this, though.
I've discussed with the wife that we need to get him a rifle and I can spend time with him on the range. I already take him with me when I go "fire" my pistol, and he's shot guns a good bit. But my deer rifle (I have one...again, I don't hunt much) isn't made for a scrawny 11 yr old. I would like to get this for his birthday (8-1) and take him "firing" a few times prior to a trip next fall.
Suggestions?

okay, apparently I wasn't very clear on what I was asking for. I know what to do if I shoot a deer. I've shot several. I need to know of a place, maybe in Texas, where I can take my son on a hunt without breaking the bank. of course, I live in Mississippi, so Mississippi would be great too. in another thread today, someone mentioned Texas hunts for 500 to 800 dollars, hunting cull bucks.I wanted to know if anyone knows of a particular place to do that sort of thing. for that sort of price.
also, on the gun, I'm definitely leaning towards the 7mm.08

What's your email? I have some guys I use in Sour Lake Texas that are exactly what you are looking for.

As mentioned, .260 and 7mm-08 are good rounds for younger hunters that they can also use later on once they are adults. I would lean to the 7mm-08 as you are since ammo is more abundant. If you handload ammo it isn't a problem, but obviously you don't.
I took my first deer with my dad's Remington 700 in .260. I love that rifle. I killed a doe with it about a month and a half ago. Still shoots like a champ!

There are places in MS that when you factor in all costs may be cheaper than going to TX. I would google outfitters in MS
ETA: and MS has a shite ton of deer as I'm sure you know. We keep shooting does and they re-spawn like we're in a video game

Have you looked at public land? Most have youth hunt days that restrict access for the area to only the kids and their supervising adults. I picture Mississippi as being like Louisiana in that there's more land than people once you get into the rural areas away from I10 and the subdivisions.
