My family has about 100 acres of land that holds a good amount of turkeys. There are probably about 2-3 birds killed off of it every year. This past weekend we made a trip and we were put on a wild turkey chase, ended up having to call it off because they were on someone else's property. What are some things i can do to try and keep them on my property year round. Do y'all feed them in the off season? We have a creek bed that runs through the property, they roost over that bed.

Relatively new to turkey hunting, just trying to learn.

Go to a co op and buy some chicken scratch. It's like Crack for turkeys.

Plant all the chufas you can afford to buy and have room to plant.

Turkeys roam just like deer no way to keep them on 100 acres all the time.

Yeah, I am going to put up a feeder at the end of the year. I really hunt the place once or twice a year. My grandpa allows some old frick to hunt and he wears them out.

clear all underbrush in pines if you have pines. thin all hardwoods ...grow native grasses, broomsedge. ask your local county extension office what native grasses were in 1860.... start there. also you can plant sawtooth oaks which produce early as 3, or 5 years usually around 7. chufas, water source, old growth hard woods, thinned pines and critter control including fireants are biggies...

Chufa. Plant it and they will stay...
seriously, I had the same problem on a small tract.
find a spot that has some sandy type soil and plant in May. Be prepared to keep the hogs away.
