This is the direction where we (Louisiana) need to go with conceal carry.

Hell if it's okay to open carry without one, why the hell not? Then people would treat people the same way we treat guns, like they're always loaded.

quote:

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Reuters) - Kansas residents would be allowed to carry concealed weapons without permits under a proposed measure endorsed by a majority of state senators, the bill's author said on Thursday.

Kansas would join Alaska, Vermont, Wyoming and Arizona as states that allow residents to carry concealed weapons statewide without a permit, according to the National Rifle Association, which supports such legislation.

Legal discussion aside, I have no problems with background checks and requiring one to go through a class.

Here in Mississippi, one does not need to take a class like in Louisiana. I wish it were a requirement.

Although I would be for it passing. I don't think that it will pass due to the loss of revenue that the permits bring in. It goes into a conservation fund that eeks out every little bit of cash that they can squeeze out of the outdoor folks in the state.

There is a huge outcry against it here in Wichita already. The local media uses photos of AR-15s with 30 rd. mags when mentioning the story on the news today. Because naturally, that's what I carry concealed.

Me and the SO took a road trip this winter which took us through Arizona. I was shocked to learn that you didn't need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Arizona.

I don't have a problem making someone go through A class either...as in ONE class. It's the sitting all day in that phucker, and the other red tape bullshite every 5 years that mean I doubt I'll renew mine.

For people living in rural areas it's not just run here, run there to get prints, photo, etc.

It's all about the money, so it won't happen. I sure as hell know Oregon or Washington won't do it.

I'll GLADLY pay a fee/renewal fee every 5 years. I just don't want to have to sit all day in a class...AGAIN.

How long is the class? It's 2 hours in Oregon and I am not sure if you have to do it again.

WA doesn't have a requirement on a class, they just want your $$.

All day. Forget how many hours but I think 8. I've heard of shorter ones. I guess I'll have to find one when that time comes.

I 100% stand behind any state that supports Constitutional Carry and think LA will get there within 10 years.

If Constitutional Carry is dangerous, shouldn't the crime rates in those states be out of control? Oh they aren't? People are responsible and logical? Sounds good to me.

I learned a good bit in the class I took.

I am absolutely against the state's ability to require me to take it, though.
That is complete horseshite and the requirement should be abolished.

I was going to take the class and get my CC permit a while back and then saw that I would have to take it again every few years to keep it. At that point I said screw it. I just carry anyway if I'm in a place that I feel unsafe.

Yeah, I posted early that I can live with one time. At most the renewals should be shooting only.

I agree we should do away with drivers licenses too. Stupid idea everyone should have the right to drive whatever they want.

With a valid drivers license I can buy a 35,000# 45' RV and drive it right off the lot.

No special class, no bullshite fee every 5 years. Check clears, it's yours.

Because America, bruh.

There is a lifetime deal now, I hear.
$500.

Not sure if you have to retake the class.

I only took one Dr Ed class and I only took one test. I get a sticker in the mail every few years to put on my license and I send in a fee, WHICH is what I said I was okay with so try again.
