Jefferson Island / Rip's Rookery (pics)

Thanks to TigerNAtux for his post about this place a week or two ago, had never heard of it before then.
Went there today... well yesterday now, here are a few pics from there.
Cattle Egrets
Roseate Spoonbills (nesting)

A few more just to give you an idea of how packed the little islands are. Every square inch has various birds on it - its a bit overwhelming as far as trying to pick what to shoot since there is so much going on.
If you are into bird watching or photography this is definitely a target-rich environment.
Be sure to bring some binoculars or a decently long lens as the islands are a good distance away from the banks.

Beautiful pictures thanks for sharing! I have no first hand knowledge of coarse.....but I've heard those Roseate Spoonbills make one hell of a gumbo...

for many years there was a narrow rookery on an emerging bank near my camp at the wax lake outlet, it was just a strip of willow and wax myrtle among the marsh plants, and hundreds of egrets would nest in it. There were so many that they’d wind up pushing nestlings out of nests and into the water. The gators would line up there stacked like cordwood waiting for the buffet to open
