Anyone out there with a TJ that has replaced their headlights with brighter bulbs, etc? Any recommendations on whole light vs bulb? Any particular brands you like?

I drive winding mountain roads to work every day in the dark and some better lights would be nice.

quadratec has some plug and play LED head lights.. I put them in my JKU and had them in my TJ.. love them, not cheap but they are fantastic and IMO worth the money

Enough that I would piss off a few brush okies with a light bar.

I would suggest maybe mounting some smaller yellow cubes (as in the light bars, that are just a cube shape) that way they aren't to bright, but its enough to help you out a little.

Fair enough. you dont want to blind folks with your headlights either, so make sure you dont go too bright and aim properly

JW Speakers LED headlights were good ones last time I was looking. I'd also consider a small light bar/leds low on the bumper aimed low with a fog pattern

I put the Rampage Halogen conversions in mine. I was tired of the old dim sealed headlights. One burned out so I ordered these. It isn't going to make a huge difference like going to LED will, but still better than stock. And you can swap out the bulbs. As far as installing them, it was very simple and I did it on my lunch break one day. The power cord from the Jeep plugs directly into this housing. I would have liked LED but they're still a little pricey to justify putting on a 13 year old Jeep.

Also, do you have factory fog lights? I replaced mine with these:

They are LED and really bright. Just splice the wiring from the fogs into these. I also ran conduit over all my wiring to clean up the look. All it takes to turn them on is flipping the fog light switch on the column. Really helpful when you need it, and fairly easy to aim. They have hex screws that you tighten down once you get them pointed where you want. I put a dab of Loctite on them and tightened them up.

I rigged up a set of the CREE foglights and they definitely help. But I keep them low at the fogline.

Yeah, I have a tube bumper on mine with two tabs near the center for lights. That's where I put mine, so they are lower than the headlights as well.

On my TJ I went cheap with a H4 conversion and bulbs. Was pretty good.

On the JK I went with the JW Speakers LED.

I do not know if JWS makes LED for TJ, but Truck-Lite does.

I would visit Wrangler Forum

They also have a dedicated sub forum for lights/electronics.

Q'tec has some TruckLight LEDs for under $200. Not the top of the line versions, but considering I paid $80 for my Rampage conversions a couple years ago, I would have spent the $200 to go LED if it was an option at the time.

I put those Rampage lights on my wife's TJ. Made a big difference, and they look better too. They also allow you to be able to use any regular H4 bulb.
