Anyone know someone selling any in south Louisiana right now? It will be a house dog and not used for hunting or breeding.

Nope. That's not going to work out how you plan it.

Better be sure you don't have any other animals around because they are not friendly dogs. My JRT has injured every dog he's come into contact with, and that includes 110 lab and several other dogs that outweighed him by at least a factor of 4. They're a handful. You'll have to have a lot of patience with them, because Lord knows they'll try it.

Jack's got a little bit of crazy to them.

They love to dig. I've got one that is 4 years old and still loves to dig. Jumps up and knocks the food bowl out of my hand.

She's awesome though.

ETA - mine is a beagle/jack mix, so she's probably 10 times more calm than a regular jack russell.

My parents had one.

Would take food out of the mouth of a 140lb Great Dane/Lab mix and could back him down at any time.

Her idea of playing fetch was "keep throwing tennis balls, I am keeping them all!"

Could dig a hole faster than you can imagine.

Could smell a cookie crumb from outside.

Had "her people" and would go full psycho if anyone sat near them when she was in their lap.

They think they are invincible and are ready to fight at any time. Not an inside dog or a dog for small kids.

Funny. When i take mine to someone's house, she immediately goes around and gathers up the dog toys that belong to the resident dog and puts them all in a nice pile so she can guard them until we leave.

They are quirky, but I've had 3 JRTs over the last 20 years and every one of them were fine house dogs. They have all been great with my children and other children also. I know the horror stories, but they can make great pets.

A very jittery, super active, running, digging, chewing, nipping, jumping up and down outside dog. But, good luck!

My brother in law breeds them in Satsuma. You want me to try and get you in touch?

Wish I still had mine, she was a squirrel catching machine. We got her when she was about 4yrs old. Then when she was around 6 one night out the blue she went to jump on the couch and missed it all together. The next day I took her to the vet and he said it looks like she might be going blind. So the next day off to LSU vet school we go and after 2 days of test she was diagnosed with SARDS. Then about a year later someone opened the back gate on my property while we were at work and she got out and wondered around and got hit on the road.

I have two. They're work but fun loyal dogs. They regularly kill squirrels, opposums, and the occasional stray cat.

I have a short hair. If it's going to be an inside dog if it doesn't matter get a wire hair. They don't shed or at least not as bad. Motor runs 24/7 365 but I like him.

Buddy had a half JRT half blue heeler.

Meanest dog I have ever seen. If the dog was 100 lbs instead of 20 he would have toppled empires.

He would attack on command and dude would laugh his arse off.
