Back in bed

Tried to go to Big Branch but got out there later than expected because of fog. Someone beat me to all 3 spots I had scouted out and I didnt want to be "that guy" who comes walking through right before sunrise and messing up someone else's hunt. So ended up just going back home...hopefully I can get into a lease or club next year so I don't have this problem anymore

My 7 yo and I have decided the deer now live underground.

Beautiful morning though, two turkeys is all that we've seen. Wind kicking up.

May come out for primitive next week but doubt it. Gonna have to ration the deer meat this year!

Back at it in Lincoln Parish. Solar lunar table said major feeding time was 230-430 so we got back out at 2:00.

Haven't seen squat. This is quickly turning into an afternoon of cold Natty Lights looking for a big ole slick head.

Good luck guys!

Got on a few birds today hunting a farm pond we hadn't hunted since last year. Not a lot of birds flying, but they wanted to be on that pond. Killed 8 overall. 2 pintail, 1 gadwall, 3 teal and 2 blackjacks

He was just cruising, not on a doe. Not mine, just a lurker buddy I was hunting with. Lucky bastard.

He went 175, already run down from chasing. Good deer.

Set up my climber looking about 75 yards into an oak flat and a bottom yesterday, this morning couldn't see 30 yards so I started walking.

Sat down on a ridge looking into bottom, and a squirrel or something jumped on a dead limb sending it crashing down probably 30 yards away almost got run smooth over by what looked like a doe. About half an hour later a doe and a yearling walked the bottom she stopped and froze at about 25 yards as I was holding my gun as awkward as possible. After about 2 minutes of a stare off she turned to walk away put the gun to my shoulder and my foot slipped. She hauled arse.

Back at it this evening in Laurel Hill
Box stand on power line, 76° too hot to be climbing

Had a small doe ( or small spike. Didn't look close) slip across the field at 5:00 but that's been it
