Found this kayak at Costco and it's lower than the price range I had in mind in order to find something for a novice like myself. I read the reviews and most people were pretty happy with this brand and model. Also comes with the paddles.

It's a Future Beach 12' angler

Looks like a perception pescador. If it is the same mold or similar, it is a good beginners boat. I think the "real" pescador is for sale here in DFW right now for 399 at academy. Not sure where you are.

Never heard of the brand but it's incredibly cheap. Nothing wrong with it for a starter yak. My first was a used pelican angler and I figured out what I liked and didn't before stepping up to an Ascend 128T. I'm good with the Ascend but there is still plenty of upward mobility to upgrade again.

supposedly this brand is a "single mold". is that the norm? I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. the paddles are probable $20- $40 by themselves. I know for sure im going to have to upgrade the seat.

Like it was said before, looks like the perception, which was based off the tarpon. Great deal, I think the pescadors are usually over $500. They may be on sale for $400 now, but they are usually higher.

I would buy that in a heartbeat if looking for a yak.

Yes, you want a single mold over a 2 piece. Supposedly the 2 piece can delaminate and come apart.

I find that seat to be plenty comfortable, never thought about upgrading.

My first yak was a future beach that I got on sale from Dick's. It's a small sit in and now 7 years later is still doing fine. It looks like a great deal to me. Only thing is that dark color may get a little hot in the sun fishing, but if you hunt out of it too it'll be good.

Pretty common design.

Good entry kayak. Fast, tracks well. Not very stable so don't expect to stand up and fish/paddle.

One thing about the yak is the position of the seat sitting real low. You will get soaked paddling in it.

Same here. I have a tarpon 120 and I never get wet. Guess you have to know how to paddle correctly.

I used to fish out of a Redfish 12. My shins got wet, not my arse. My arse just got numb.
