I have a Sierra with the 6.2 and I love my truck, but I want something with better than 12mpg highway.

Would I be making a good choice if I switched?

I pull a 19ft hunting boat and a 20ft trailer.

It is rarely a good idea to spend thousands of dollars for only a 5 mpg or so difference. That said, you would be getting IMO a much better truck. I much prefer the interior on the Ford compared to GM's offerings. How much extra will it cost you to do this?

I have the 5.0 and love it over the Eco boost I have 33s and average 16-17, pulling my 20' bay boat I get about 12-13 depending on stop and go. I don't care for the Eco boost but I have a few friends that like them but they don't pull anything..they will get about the same mpg city and hwy

I will be saving about $300 a month with gas and note. But downgrading the interior a lot.

You're going to buy a base model just to get the other engine? I wouldn't do that.

Got a buddy who has one and he loves it.......

except when he tows something. He said the gas mileage drops off substantially. I asked him how bad and he said BAD. I didn't have the heart to ask him the actual number.

Told him about mine. I have the 5.0 in the Lariat and it does fairly well when towing. Granted, I don't tow anything real heavy (just a 6x8 utility trailer w/ my SxS) and I only get around 16mpg.

He said he would love to get 16mpg. Take it for what it's worth.

It has most features that my Sierra has but it doesn't have leather, back up camera, and navigation.

I thought I would get a lot more gas mileage.

It pulls really well. I have an xpress bay boat which isn't too heavy but it pulls it just fine, I get 12-13 like I said now the ecoboost pulls the shite out of stuff as it was made to tow but don't look at good mileage my buddy got less than me pulling..

It's all up to what you want I love my 5.0 and never regretted buying it over the ecoboost

My buddy is a salesman and has had people trade in the ecoboost for the 5.0 due to fuel mileage issues.

I don't give a damn about fuel mileage though I bought a truck which means shitty mileage no matter what lol

I've got a 2012 F-150 Eco-boost. Supercrew (4 door) with 3.73 gears. I get 22-23 mpg on the highway & 14 pulling my boat (22' Majek Extreme).

Doesn't the new GMC/Chevy v8 get the same or better mileage as the eco-boost?

Seems like this comes up every week huh bro? I will just say this I have a EcoBoost and LOVE it, I pulled meauxjeaux2's boat numerous times and still get around 16-18mpg. I also drive it to Houston every other week and average 22-23mpg.

i have an ecoboost 4x4 with 34" tires

real world mileage, i average about 16 combined city/highway

i've only towed a SxS on a trailer a few times, but at 70 mph, it drops the mileage to about 12 or so

i'm sure its a lot better at 55 vs 70, but i dont know those numbers to tell you

it tows great though, you'd never know that trailer is back there.....its just using the turbos a little more, therefore the mileage takes a hit

the ecoboost costs about 1500 more than the 5.0, so it would take a LOT of gas savings to make that up, and you may only get 1-2 mpg better than a similarly set-up 5.0, so keep that in mind

i bought it for the power, not for the mileage
