Is 25 acres enough for a personal hunting spot

There's a tract of land I've come across for a good price but its only 25 acres. Its surrounded by managed CRP and farmland. It looks to be a prime location with deer sign and travel paths abundant. But my concern is if I start hunting it the deer will change their travel patterns and I will be out of luck. Am I over thinking this and as long as I don't shoot up the woods I'll be fine, or is there a real possibility of me re-routing the deer around me? I would really like to have my own place.

25 acres can be enough. A brother of mine routinely kills 150" deer off of a 20ish acre plot. Completely dependent on surrounding landowners and how you hunt it.

Depends on the topography of the tract, but yes, it is quite possible

my parents 30 acres allows for 2 stand spots and they kill deer off of it every year

as for re-routing deer, I personally would only bow hunt such a small tract, but that would just be my preference

Was thinking exactly the same thing.

Yeah bow hunting would be the least invasive. But even hunting with a rifle, if you make your land more attractive than the land around you, youre going to draw deer in.

Definitely, but I wouldn't make it my primary hunting spot.

If you are just a pass-through, they will reroute around you if you aren't pretty sneaky. Unless you have something on your place they want and can't find in some other place with no pressure. Make your plot a destination, not part of the journey, and you will keep deer.

That's my setup at home. We kill a few deer off it every year. It's mainly for my kids. I keep a bunch of bait out and hunt the edges

as said above.. depends.

i have 10 acres behind my house. The 2 biggest deer ive ever killed have come off that 10 acrers, both on my wall. The biggest deer i had on camera is from there... i hunt two other 100+ acre tracts if that tells u anything.

But 2 yrs ago they clearcut land all around my 10 acres. I have nothing on camera since but 2 does.

so depends...

You should be fine. Especially if it was only bow hunted. Just keep the wind in your favor, and try not to overhunt it. I probably would not take more than a couple deer per year of 25 acres

25 acres is plenty for 1 person if the surrounding areas are right.

My son and I only hunt on 80 acres and we killed 8 deer on it last year, and saw many more.

Where is the land located?

Deer absolutely love to hangout in CRP fields, and if there is crops around you they will always be traveling to the food. Depending on where they bed, sounds like you've got a pretty good chance to catch them passing thru your tract. And as always, bucks can come from anywhere during the rut.

I'd personally make a kill food plot and the rest id making bedding area and not go into, make it thick as heck. When I say kill plot I mean plant something they will eat during the season and not worry about summer nutrition.

I don't know why weapon matters. I'd actually go the opposite, the issue with 25 acres is there's a good chance the deer runs off your land before dying. Just make sure your neighbor's are fine with you retrieving a deer off of their land. But that's why I'd say to use a rifle, better chance of dropping them in their tracks if they are close to the property line.

It's enough.

My dad had a 23 acre tract and I have a 40 acre tract. Both places are/were huntable. Just make sure there is something there to attract them (food, water, cover, minerals, etc.) Have a couple stands or a couple ways in so you can adjust to the wind.

Even at the club I'm in, most of my deer have been taken from a few stand sites within 300 yards of each other. If it is a good area you won't have a problem.

It's flat. The land is 12 year old CRP, real thick underbrush with trees about 20' tall at this point

You mind giving us a general location? 20 acres in SWLA is not the same as 20 acres along the delta in mississippi

Yes, I grew up hunting a 10 acres of family land and it produced deer and squirrel every year.
