Went to a buddys house last night, noticed my tach was reading 3k at idle, 35-4 when driving. Truck is running normal, not at a high rpm. Turned it off and it stuck on 3. Got in it this am, jumped to 5K at idle, 55-6K driving, again, normal running. Got to work, it sticks on 5k. Replace tach? DIY job? 05 Silverado FWIW.

Early 2000's chevy?

Common problem with their instrument panel. My dads truck started with the speedometer and by the end of it not one gauge worked.

He ended up finding some guy online who you ship it to and he refurbishes and mails it back. I will try and get the website for you

Update

It's Dr speedometer.com

Had on '04 Silverado that had an instrument panel that was screwed up. Tach went first, then speed and oil pressure. Heard it was a common problem, and Chevy offered me no help in fixing it.
Just another one of the joys of owning an overpriced vehicle not worth the money. Enjoy!

Didn't know you could do that busta. Looks like you may have found your solution 21. I would price some on amazon too and I bet youtube will show you the best way to get it out.

2005, that looks like a decent deal, but is my daily. Dont have a 3rd vehicle to drive for a week while the cluster is being repaired.

You can still drive the car while the cluster is out. My 05 Chevy HD had this problem as well.

I found a guy on eBay over nighted my cluster to him and in 3 days I had it back. I just filled up my truck before I sent it off so I knew I was good for at least a week and half.

Taking the cluster out was very easy took maybe 5 minutes

I guess I could, for the next week or two I'll only be taking it to and from work.

Well it was like 80 dollars to have the motors switched out on my gauge cluster and I don't remember the exact amount but I think a new gauge cluster was like 500+ dollars.

03 C2500. Oil pressure went first. Then Tach...now speedo is acting up. I guess I'll be doing some soldering on some stepper motors soon. Tried to find the dash already with new steppers..so I could just plug n play...no joy yet.

Here is the guy I used on Ebay a couple years ago. Knock on wood no issues. either email him or find a link to the auction of the cluster you need.

My old 93 silverado had the tach go out on it. The easier fix was to get an aftermarket installed below the dash. Nice little chrome accent tach mounted and installed for pennies compared to a new dash cluster.
