I'm thinking about a F350 dually. Tell me what you know.

I really don't need it right now but I will be wanting to tow a fifth wheel in the future. But it will most likely be a daily driver more than a tow vehicle. Anyone own one? Also may be doing some hotshot work when I retire.

Don't get one if you don't need one. Driving a dually is a PITA

Why do you say that?

It's a bitch to park and just not fun to drive. No way I would ever get a dually unless absolutely necessary.

Not if you have a pair of nuts. Get a dually. I almost went with a dually on my last super duty purchase.

Not hard, just not enjoyable. The Damn think is nearly 3 ft wider thank your average truck. You will hit more curbs, etc. Turning radius is not good either.

Think about trying to park that big arse at Wal-Mart lol.

Eta- last time I drove one was 20 years ago. What 5th wheel are you going to be pulling?

Don't know yet. But when I upgrade from my travel trailer I will probably need one. My problem is that I will mostly be using it for around town stuff. Be towing a dozen times a year.

Then get something cheaper and easier to operate as daily

It's no wider than a F250's mirrors. If you need/want one, get one. That's all my dad buys and hasn't pulled a trailer that a mini truck could pull in a decade.

My dad got rid of his dually for a '16 GMC 3500 HD Z71. He had the dually to pull his 45' 5th wheel.
He got rid of the dually because the ride when not pulling sucked and wasn't worth it. He has the camper for work so he would pull it every few months from job to job across the state. He said he sees no difference in the HD than the dually towing and the day to day ride is much better.
IMO, unless you tow something big big and frequently, you may be happier without the dually.

A dually as a daily driver seems like a nightmare.

Should be fine with 3/4 ton unless you're buying huge 5th wheel. Good luck with POS power stroke

I drove a dually for years and loved it. But then again, I have a sack of nuts and skint up knuckles.

If you're not worried about it being a gas guzzler go ahead. I'd stick with a 250

Have a 250 gasser now. Can't imagine anything could be worse on mileage than it is.

I have a 3/4 ton diesel with air bags and the BW rollover 5th wheel/gooseneck.

It pulls my 5th wheel great. The only thing a dually would be really needed for is if you are pulling a big, heavy toy hauler with a lot of pin weight.

I never said the 250 wasn't a gas guzzler. Im saying the 350 is a bigger gas guzzler.
