I'm just thinking about the damage being done to all the boats helping out in Houston.

It is an amazing thing what all our fellow outdoorsman are doing by bringing their personal boats to Houston to help in the rescues. But after watching all the news footage, I can only imagine all the cars, fire hydrants, mailboxes and road signs they have hit. I bet a bunch of boats will come home with holes worn through the hulls from being drug down the asphalt streets.
With that being said it just proves how many good ole boys are putting themselves out there to help others in need!

I would head over with the flat but I would lose a prop or the whole damn foot in no time. Wish I had a surface drive

Local boat shops should give discounts on new props if you helped in the recovery efforts.

some short pieces of heavy gauge pvc rolled under the hull when the water is too shallow allows for easy boat movement over streets

i think its almost a given to expect 10 years off the life of your boat and a prop ruined, 50/50 lower unit trashed if you do it.

that said, people need help and things are just things after all. its nice to think "someone" takes care of those who help but i think there is a lot less things done to help rescuers fix problems related to helping then there should be.

be nice if fema gave them a money grant big enough to cover all related expenses and fix damaged equipt

If they made that kind of offer the streets would be littered with idiots finishing off their only derelic boats and getting in the way just in the name of getting a check.

It's a shame, but shite like that never works.

You help people in need because that's how you were raised, right? To me I wouldn't offer if I expected pay back. That's just me. Good things happen to good people.

I saw one of the cajun navy guys in a Nautic Star. That boat has to be trashed.

Yeah I don't think I would have put a fiberglass bayboat in there.

Was watching a local live news stream from in a rescue boat (pontoon) and as they were turning around at a dead and they hit something and one of the guys said "ahhhhg, mailbox". Plenty of mailboxes are going to need replacing after this. Unless maybe you have one of those bricked up deals then I really feel sorry for whomever owns that prop.

You think this at first.. but then realize, put a hole in a fiberglass boat, easy fix. Hit that same object with and aluminum hull, you can't fix it. It will never be the same.

My mailbox looked like a curled christmas ribbon after the flood last year.

I was there yesterday and saw a guy come in with a hole in the hull due to a fire hydrant.

I saw a video of a fiberglass bass boat with 115 on it and they were out of the boat and pushing it down a street. I'm guessing that pavement and fiberglass don't mix real well.
