Five men, including a Shreveporter, face charges for not only allegedly hunting rabbits at night but also doing so on a state wildlife enforcement agent's homestead in Claiborne Parish.
It reportedly happened about 11 p.m. Jan. 1 about 10 miles east of Minden. Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Lt. Kenneth Balkom was off duty when he heard a utility task vehicle (UTV) being operated outside his house on Sexton Road. Looking out a window, he reportedly saw at UTV traveling on Sexton Road with a spotlight shining on his hay field.
The agent got into uniform and stopped the UTV. Inside the vehicle he reportedly found 3 freshly killed rabbits, 3 shotguns, a rifle, a pistol, a spotlight and a bag of marijuana and seized them.
Booked into the Claiborne Parish Jail in Homer were Aaron C. Kilpatrick, 27, of Katy, Texas; Joseph B. Ralston, 27, of McKinney, Texas; Christopher L. Wren, 23, of Shreveport; Jordan M. Wren, a 26-year-old stationed in Atsugi, Japan; and Justin S. Wren, 34, of Monroe. Each faces 1 count each of hunting rabbits during illegal hours, hunting from a moving vehicle and hunting from a public road.
Justin Wren additionally was cited for allegedly operating a UTV on a public road and for having an open container of alcohol in a moving vehicle. Christopher Wren also was charged with 1 count each of possession of marijuana, illegally carrying of a weapon while in possession of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol in a moving vehicle.

the guy in the military (stationed in Japan) is royally screwed...his military career is over and if he does get a dishonorable discharge, I believe he will have a hard time purchasing new firearms (g.)
all for a little "fun"
bad decisions come at a price I guess.

Spotlighting with shotguns? WTH, .22 works much better.

Using a shotgun while spotlighting rabbits? We used to use 22's with shorts to keep the noise down.
