Man that was the hardest track job I've had and I thought it was a lost cause. I had exactly two small drops of blood. Tracked for an hour and a half. Found him 100 yards past where I last had the blood. But found him, walked told the dad I found him but not to tell his son. Then made up some story about where I thought he might go so that the boy could "find" him.

It was awesome. I have an 19 month old son at home and this just makes me so excited for what I'll be doing in the future with him.

Thanks guys. It's a story I can tell for a while now.

Back in the stand now. Maybe some karma will come my way this evening. But it would only be a bonus for me.

Box stand on food plot
.30-06

After putting one in the freezer this morning I'm out looking for something I can shoot. I've got 3 doe tags I'm supposed to fill, but I'm not really motivated to shoot one. Still waiting on one of the two trophy bucks that hang out here to mess up.

Same field I went to this morning. Hoping the nice 8 I let walk this morning like an idiot will come back. I won't make that mistake twice....at least not in the same day.

Saw 1 spike this morning. Moved to a different stand with a food plot along side some railroad tracks. Nothing yet

Possibly my last hunt of the year and I'm bloodthirsty. No deer is safe this afternoon.

Outstanding. Took my grandson this morning for youth hunt. Pretty slow but he managed to knock a drake woodie down. Back story, he got a new gun for xmas, and has only killed one, but not on his home lake. Had a group come flying by and by the time he got his gun up, they were bout out of range. He pulls up on the lead and I tell him to shoot the last one. He fires and hits it but it picks up and makes it about 100 yds or so away in the woods. We get in the boat, no way dog is gonna get it that far, and take off. Get over there, and find it and the dog makes a great retrieve diving after it several times. Even though we killed one, it was a great ending to the season.
