The first deer I shot at with a bow was way worse than that.

I had a PSE jr bow and had a doe broadside about 40 yards.

I managed to pull back and as soon as I saw brown in the peep sight I let that bastard fly

I was way closer than I thought but it looked like I shot a rainbow at her.

Deer ducked, stood back up, arrow landed under her, she proceeded to eat in the food plot at 45ish yards until dark. Taunting me.

I don't deer hunt anymore either but I remember this moment like it was yesterday
about 8 yrs old in a slough off the buffalo river near ft Adams
I had a youth model Ithaca 20 ga with a rifled slug
A big doe jumped out in front of us maybe 20 feet away
my dad said "shoot!" and time and that doe stood still
I was shaking so hard I couldn't pull the trigger

I can see him, that doe, and that slough just as it happened even 40 years later
