This looks pretty wild

Courtland Hunt has just changed the underwater game by successfully shooting invasive Lionfish over 100ft underwater with a customized Glock 9mm handgun in the Gulf of Mexico.

That's wild, but I question how much of an impact they are really making on the population

I was thinking the same thing, but seeing them die gave me some satisfaction. How bad a problem is that?

I read that first as "successfully shooting lionfish from over 100 ft, underwater" and I was calling bullshite.

We were in Roatan last summer and were told they are very bad on the local population of fish on the Coral reef. We had some fried lion fish strips and it was delicious.

It's a huge problem in the Carribean. I had some lion fish at a restaurant in Jamaica, I was shocked at how good it was.

I think the pole spear and zoo keeper is the better method

Nice.
I was reading the comments and one of the guys said, "someone finally found a use for a glock." He got a bunch of up votes and I think he would have gotten some flack on this board.

That was my first thought, which is even more dangerous under 100 feet of water. Busted eardrum, vertigo sets in.

that....and what are chances of ricochet on a rock if you miss? They don't really move that much....just spear the shite out of em.

I've heard they are really good to eat. Saw where several restaurants have put them on menus in hopes of creating a commercial demand for them. Hopefully it will take off like Prudhomme's Blacked Redfish back in the day. But with no need to intact limits on them.

In shallow water, sure... but at 100'? Why?

Most times we have speared them we made salsa ceviche when we got back on board. It's not bad at all for a sustainable seafood.

C'mon, that makes way too much sense to be considered cool.

There is a place, Cali I believe, that offers Heli-Scuba Diving. It's on my list.

I would imagine its not bad at all as sound does not travel very well under water.
Very intriguing, but i would think it rusts you glock fairly quickly.

ummm.... sound travels 4x faster in water than it does air

more dense the medium, faster sound waves move
