It's easy to do, just takes time

another idea would be to just get a wood lathe so that you could turn out some dowell rods and then do the finish work by hand...might not be a bad gig for a retiree or someone like that, if you wanted to sell them at craft shows or specialty shops....

Very cool stuff man . Have you done any other style of lures? I've seen some great looking hand crafted crank baits and have always been interested.

You could use a lathe, I have known people that make them that way, it makes some pretty lures. Not my cup of tea though. I can make about 12 a day start to finish by hand carving, which is more than enough for me.

I've made Devil's Horses which are pretty easy. I got a couple of bills for a jitterbug that I'm going to work on. I tried a crankbait once and I never could get it to run straight. Going to try again one day.

Do you have to dry the epoxy while on a rotiserie to avoid drips? What about only hanging w/o motion to dry?

You could just hang them without motion, you would have to check periodically to remove the epoxy if it globbed up on the lure. You may also have to put several thin coats on to avoid drips if you don't turn them with a rotisserie.

wow, I didn't realize you could turn out that many...if you can do that many, I would agree that a lathe is not needed...

also, the rotiserie is an ingenious idea....did you come up with that?....

I can't take credit for the rotisserie, Google helped me with that.
