How many of you prefer to wing shoot with a pump?

I've always shot a semi (not the biggest bird hunter, but have gotten a lot more into it over the last 3 years). Last year I didn't bring my shotgun to the camp and we decided to go make a quick dove hunt. Only had a pump available. I look like an idiot. It's just not second nature for me, so I basically get one shot off

I started w a pump as a teenager, then went to a semi but my 1st choice to shoot doves is a OU, there is no pumping or semi action to distract you and you get 2 shots off really quickly w/ a great swing. Would I use it on a high volume shoot (eg., Mex or S Amer) – nope cause it would beat you up but for a box or 2 of shells thats my fav.

I've always had a pump so it's what I use. If I had a SBEII, I would not use the pump.

I swear I can shoot a pump faster than an automatic.

I shot a pump the first 30+ years of my life and have had a auto for the last ten or so. I still have muscle memory wanting to pump the shotgun every once in awhile.

How is the quality of the new 870 wingmasters? Has it tanked like the rest of Remington products?

I've only used pumps. Got a remmington 870 3" in 9th grade, and used in until last year. My uncle gave me another 870, but 3-1/2", whiched I used last year, and plan to use it until its time to purchase another 870.

Eta: 9th grade for me was 1999.

I've still never owned a semi. I am afraid I would try to pump it.

I've got a humpback Belgian 20 ga that I shoot at doves some of the time. I inadvertently try to rip the stock off for the first few vollys, then I get used to it.
