How many of you have pulled out the 9mm instead of a club while deep sea fishing...?

I've been on a boat where they had a bang stick to dispatch some fish.

This place sells bangsticks if you want one

We bring a .380 on every trip. I've only used it on a big swordfish. You dont want to bring a live swordfish on deck.

I have wondered before, is it legal for someone to shoot a pissed off lemonfish next to the boat before pulling it onboard? I can't imagine why it wouldn't be legal

I'm sure there isn't a law against it, tournaments don't allow you to shoot them though.

I've seen the folks on "Alaska, The Last Frontier" TV show do that with large halibut since they can cause a lot of damage to people once on the boat if still alive.

Can't say I've ever caught a fish big enough to need to dispatch with a 9mm, or any other gun for that matter.

I have shot a 6ft gar with a 22 so we could get it in the boat. Was jug lining for catfish and hooked him. We had him on the gaff, but he didn't want to comply...

All I know is that It should be legal to shoot every single shark that gets in shooting range of the boat.

No shortage of those assholes.

Even after shooting it every one was on the side rails . The back of the boat took forever to clean

Friend of mine once was trying to shoot a cobia, but hit his line instead. Can’t remember what kind of gun he was using.

When the tuna bite at the lump was hot a few months ago one boat hooked a big mako and fought him for a couple hours before losing him. That shark was shot at a few times.

I like to use a shotgun with bird shot when I get redfish next to the boat.
