how do you fish your live minnows under a cork

looking for some new setups to try. I fish mainly in the marsh and while fishing wind swept points and current lines I do a good bit of cocahoe minnow fishing under a cork when its cold. I have tried numerous setups but would like to here others opinions.
Sometimes I go free lined under the cork if the water is really shallow allowing the minnow to swim free (circle hook). Other times I will use a jighead as I think it makes the minnow wiggle more trying to fight the weight.
Anyone on here use slip corks to fish deeper ledges and holes?

Bobber, split shot weight about 4 inches above a hook.
You could use a slip cork to make it easier on casting. But IMO, if you're fishing a deep ledge or hole, a carolina rig would work better.

always do. Easy hookups.

18-24 inches of flouro leader, split shot half way, & 3 khale hook. A lot of people will argue the number 3 khale but to me, it's the best do-it-all size. You might miss some dink trout but you'll be in better shape for a nice size red where if you had a 1 khale, you're gonna miss some reds. If I get hot & heavy in to trout, im switching to plastic anyway.

I would rather miss the dinks
I do use flouro but have been tying a bead and 1/4 oz oval weight on about 8 inches below cork and 16 inches about khale hook. I have gone up to #4 at times if out of #3s

Slip cork with a rubber band tied as a stopper to adjust depth. Great way to use it and wear the white perch out

If you have live menhaden, just use a circle hook with no cork. Let it free swim, use an ultra light, and get ready for fun.
