How do I get rid of a Yellow jacket nest in the ground?

I was blowing leaves in my front yard... stirred up an in ground nest. Those suckers hurt, and they kept head butting me all the way to my backyard... only got stung about 4 times, but they kept hitting me in the head, but not stinging. Got something called Delta Dust from my next door neighbor and spread it all around the opening that night. Haven't seen any more flying around the hole as of yet. Question is... are they all dead, or just scared to come out? Can I (should I, rather) dig up the nest? Or is that asking for trouble? Part of me wants to pour diesel fuel down the hole followed by a match, but I have a Japanese maple about two feet away, and don't want to kill it. And that's probably illegal in the city anyways. Or should I just tell my son to rake that area? Thanks in advance.

1 cup of diesel or gasoline down the hole will clear them out.

Stomp on the ground around it a few times every day, and they won't feel safe and move

I definitely wouldn't dig it up, but go ahead and let us know how it works out for you.

There are two holes in the ground. Pour gasoline down one of the holes and plug both ends where they can't escape.

You could try mixing strong dawn soap solution and pouring that down the hole after dark. I don't think it will hurt the tree.

I'll tell my son to plant a shrub or something there. He'd faster than me.

That's my concern, don't really want to hurt the tree.
I haven't seen them all summer long, and there are too many of them to not have been there.

How ever you do it please film it and post video here.

A couple of cups of gasoline isn't going to kill a tree... and I've tried that soap thing a few times with less than satisfactory results. Gas works.

Gas down the holes and stand back. Light a diesel soaked rag torch and chunk it at the hole.

Pour gas down hole
Shoot flaming arrow into hole
Film it

pack hole with Tennerite and gasoline, build a small fire behind the hole. Lay a propane tank next to the hole with the valve wide open. Shoot tank and Tannerite with AK47 while yelling WOLVERINES!!

this guy has a good video on how to kill them and this wont hurt your trees
I will do that when I get home. Whether or not the delta dust stuff killed them all, can't hurt to do this... get any stragglers.

THIS
I learned the hard way that those bastards dig 2 holes. While you are jacking around with 1, they come up behind you and nail your arse.
