How do I destroy a firearm? UPDATED w pic

I have a pistol that has sat in some kind of powder for I don't know how many years. I found it after my father passed away. It needs so many things that it's going to be impossible to piece it back together. But the serviceable part of the pistol is the part with the actual serial number. So I'm totally lost here because I've never been put in this position of having to get rid of a firearm.
Sadly I still miss all the rest that fell out of my boat.

Nice try, FBI.
I would have gone with SJW but this works just fine also.

Actually I can provide photos of the weirdly disintegrated pistol later this evening if anyone is interested in seeing it. I guess he kept it stored in Borax or something.

sounds like it is already destroyed.

Schmelt it
Smelting is an option but I don't have access to that. I could probably find someone with a torch. If I cut the pistol in half through where the trigger used to be I should be good right?

#1 4in grinder cut off wheel
#2 heat up in a fire pit on a bed of coals and hit a few times with a 5 pound maul.
#3 give it to a boy between 8-13 and tell him there’s no way in hell he can make it unrecognizable, sit back and drink a beer and let him do his thing.

Put it in borax or some other mysterious powder for 30 years.

I was about to say, I have a 5 year old and his group of friends that can pretty much destroy ANYTHING if it has any type of value

I'm always curious to see stuff like this when I hear about it, so please, do post pics.

Roger that. It's weird how it was eaten away. Anything not stainless is pretty much gone but the gun is so old you can't find parts. Anywhere. I think it is an old Sears pistol. I would love to figure out a way to find parts for it.

Save it till the police have another gun buyback event and make $200.

have you thought about selling it to Alx? He'd put so many safety features on it that the thing would be useless.

The legal way is 3 cuts through the receiver with a torch, a grinder or saw or anything else is not legal.
